Basil Ference

Basil "Buddy" Ference, 78, died April 1, 2013.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA in to the Russian Orthodox faith, he was a longtime resident of northeast Ohio, a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict where he served as a radar technician and had retired from NASA Lewis Research Center in 1989 after more than 25 years of service. A member of the American Legion, Basil was generous with both his time and money and enjoyed hosting family and friends. Spending time with his grandchildren and painting sceneries were his favorite hobbies.

Preceded in death by his wife Geneva "Pat" and his daughter Victoria, sisters Helen and Marge, and brother Archie; he is survived by his daughter Karen (Joe) Clary; sons John (Kay) and David (Sheila); grandchildren Adrian (Marie), Brittany, Caleb, Nicole, Vickylynn (Chris), Rachel, Justin, Nathan, Seth and Jordyn; great-grandchildren Aksel and Jasper; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 12 Noon at Redmon Funeral Home where friends are invited for visitation from 10 AM until service time. Interment will be conducted at the Grove Street Cemetery in New London, OH at 3:00 PM on the same day.
