Betty J. Proper

STOW - Betty Jean Proper, 80, of Stow, OH and formerly of Corry, Pa., died Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Heather Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation, Tallmadge, OH.

She was born May 6, 1940 in Luray, VA. a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Anthony) Ward. Betty was raised in Arlington,VA. In 1961 she moved to Corry with her family.Betty loved gardening, reading and caring for her family. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Corry.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on July 4, 2018 by her husband Donald E. Proper, whom she married on August 6, 1958 in Edinburg, VA .; a son, Jeffery Curtis Proper, two sisters, Novella Rankin and Faye Henry, also by two brothers, Robert and Paul Ward. Betty is survived by a daughter, Annette Lang of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a son, Scott Proper and his wife Cindy of Stow, OH; a sister, Mary Golliday and a brother, Ray Ward and his wife Joan all of Edinburg, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Justine Dernley (Scott), Jacob, Saul and Joseph Lang, Emily Harrison (Nick) and Sarah Proper and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held privately by her family. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.
