BATH - On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Captain Allen L. Maurer, 78, of Bath, passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Allen was born on December 23,1947, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to Lawrence and Anne (Heben) Maurer. He spent much of his childhood helping his father run the family farm and, by his own admission, annoying his little sister, Cindy, every chance he got. Those early years shaped him deeply. It was there that Allen developed his lifelong love of hard work, gardening, nature, and mechanics.

After graduating from Badger High School in 1966, Allen enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving as a medic. He remained in the service until the passing of his father in 1968, when he returned home to settle the family farm.

It was during this time that Allen met the love of his life, Terri Ingram. The story of his car breaking down near her home, and Terri’s parents insisting he sleep on the front porch became one of his favorite tales to retell. From the very beginning, it was clear he was completely smitten. They married in 1970.

Allen soon enrolled at Kent State University to study aviation. After graduating, he built a diverse early career flying for the Federal Reserve, working with Corporate Wings, and even running his own aviation company. Those experiences paved the way for the next chapter of his life: a 29-year career with Parker Hannifin, where he spent his days doing exactly what he loved, flying.

He eventually retired as Parker’s Director of Flight Operations. While he treasured the remarkable places his work took him, he most loved talking about the people he met along the way. One of his favorite stories involved a certain rock band, a lit joint, and his fatherly warning: “Put it out, or I’m turning this plane around.”

In 1983, Allen and Terri welcomed their son, Darren. Though Allen’s career often took him far from home, he always made time for his family. He served as Darren’s Scoutmaster for many years, guiding countless young scouts with patience, humor, and steady leadership. As a family, they shared memorable ski trips, long hours working on the cabin, and countless adventures in Charlie. Allen never hesitated to make sacrifices for his son, whether it was a Power Wheels mishap that ended with stitches on Christmas Eve or going on multistate road trips to support Darren’s hobbies. These moments, both the small and the grand, reflected the depth of his devotion as a father.

Allen was a proud member of the Quiet Birdmen, served on the board of the Cleveland Air Show, and was a licensed flight instructor. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards including The Wright Brothers "Master Pilot" Award for 50 years of Dedicated Service in Aviation Safety. Outside of aviation, he was a skilled shotgun and rifle instructor and an active member of numerous shooting clubs.

Allen leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Terri; his son, Darren (Angie Law); his sister, Cindy Olson (Bill), and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his generosity, his storytelling, his unwavering work ethic, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched on the ground and in the air.

Please join us in celebrating Allen’s final ascent.
