STOW – Carol Jean Scarpitti (Krummel), 89, passed away September 21, 2026, following a 14-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Carol was born in Akron and graduated from St. Vincent High School. She lived most of her life in Stow and worked for the City of Stow in the Parks and Recreation Department for 32 years. During her time with the city, she was the director of their senior citizen’s program, the Stow Sunshiners, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

Carol enjoyed traveling, baking, and playing cards. Above all, her family was her whole world. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in her family.

She was preceded in death by husband Robert L. Scarpitti; parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Krummel, and brother Arthur Krummel Jr.

She is survived by children, Robert Scarpitti Jr (Susan), Richard Scarpitti (Carmalee), Daniel Scarpitti (Jennie), and Lu Ann Unrue (Robert); grandchildren Angela Gordon (Matt), Amber Szeremet (Stewart), Anthony Scarpitti (Jordan), Hannah Scarpitti, Dominic Scarpitti, Kayleigh Priebe (Geoff), Jadelynn Romito (Al), Melinda Shew (Robert), Ashlee Licitri (Alex), and Robert Unrue; 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Krummel and sister-in-law Charlene Nevada.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at St. Eugene Catholic Church,1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Visitation will take place 10 AM to service time at the church. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery 100 E. Waterloo Rd, Akron OH 44319, follow services at the church.
