Carolynn Rae (Chooch) Mostyn (nee Mullaly) passed away on 8/29/2026, after a long illness.

Carolynn was a graduate of Stow High School in 1968 and attended Mt. Vernon Nazarene College, earning an Associate Degree in Music.

Carolynn, or "Chooch" to her friends, family and Grand kids, loved life and enjoyed music, travel, writing and spending time with people. She spent her life involved in music of every kind, teaching private lessons, leading church choirs, playing the trumpet, and listening to music. She brought the joy of music to life, where she was always a bright spot of positive energy.

Later in life she began doing freelance writing and loved traveling and writing about those travels for online and print publications. She also wrote the “local beat” for local papers, attending Council meetings and school board meetings in Springfield Twp and Lakemore, later doing digital work for these communities for their social media and community sites.

Chooch enjoyed playing cards with friends and organizing the annual “Surprise Girls Trip” each year. She would organize and plan a surprise trip for a group of her friends, and they would head off not knowing where she was taking them. Her passion for exploring new places and meeting new people was always present.

Chooch was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond C. Mullaly and Lois Ann Mullaly nee Turner. She is survived by 2 daughters, Kimberly Rufo (A.J.) and grandchildren Lucy and Anthony (Bubba) Rufo. We are respecting the wishes of her other daughter to maintain her privacy.

She is also survived by her brother, Mark Mullaly and sister-in-law Karen Mullaly, and brother-in-law Paul Mostyn and sister-in-law Janet Mostyn. She is also survived by her longtime friend and travel partner, Mary Ellen Rook. They toured the country together seeing every corner of it they could!

Calling hours will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM with a 4 PM service on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd, Lakemore, OH 44312.   Following the service, a reception will be held to celebrate her life.
