Obituary of Carroll Lee Larry



STOW - Carroll Lee Larry, 80, who has accepted and believed through faith that Jesus is his personal Savior, has victoriously been called home January 27, 2017 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for a glorious eternity. Carroll died of respiratory failure.

Carroll was born on April 5, 1936 near Shook, MO in Wappapello Lake area and graduated from Decatur High School, Decatur, IL in 1955. He was awarded a full four-year basketball scholarship to attend Bradley University. Carroll graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1960 with a B.S. degree in Electronic Technology. He served and received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army as a Specialist 4th class.

Carroll worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, IL as an electrician and technical writer for 9 years. He also worked and retired from Terex of General Motors, later known as Terex Corporation, located in Hudson, OH for 20 years. He held positions as a Product Training Instructor, Senior Claims Analyst and District Service Manager. In the latter, he was responsible for supporting sales through service in Northeastern United States and Canada.

As a private venture, Carroll was awarded a U.S. Patent for inventing a unique fixture for uses in advertising, industrial photography and shelving.

He has resided in Stow, Ohio since 1968.

Carroll was well known for helping a friend in need. When the need arose, he "stuck closer than a brother". He attended the Tallmadge United Methodist Church, where he was active in the choir.

Preceded in death by his first wife Sylvia and second wife Barbara, he is survived by daughters Julia (Jeffrey) Phillips of Stow, Angela (Brett) Batko of Tallmadge; grandchildren Stephanie Slomberg, Grace Phillips, Kyle and Jesse Batko; great-granddaughter Hayley Batko; sisters Joyce Lohrstorfer; Janice (Jerry) Arvin and Juanita Larry, and dear friend Ellen Campbell.

Rev. Scott Low will conduct a funeral service Tuesday 1 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11 AM until service time. Burial Stow Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tallmadge United Methodist Church.
