Obituary of Catherine Scott Mullins

Catherine Scott Mullins, age 59, of Hudson, Ohio passed away on October 19, 2018 after a courageous battle with leukemia. She died surrounded by her loving family, who lifted her spirit into the heavens with song, words of love, and prayer.

Cathy was born in Dearborn, MI to Joseph and Mary Kay (Feran) Scott. She spent her childhood years in various midwestern cities with an adventurous, fun-loving pack of siblings. As luck would have it, her brother's roommate at the University of Notre Dame was Brian Mullins, and the friendship they began during those college years would blossom into lifelong love, marriage, and companionship. She received her master's degree in occupational therapy from Western Michigan University, gaining skills she would use in her many years as a caregiver to her parents.

Cathy took great joy in being a wife, mother, aunt, friend, and person of faith. She loved to sing, was a founding member of the St. Mary's Life Teen Music program, and continued to bring music to her church for 25 years. She was an active community member and brought her task-master spirit to many organizations. She had a special passion for social justice, mentoring refugees from Burma, and spearheading a women's refugee support group at Catholic Charities.

Cathy is survived by her husband Brian, her children Sean (Leslie), Bridget (Aaron), Katie; her siblings Joe (Sally) Scott, Jim (Sheri) Scott, Mike (Beth) Scott, Mary Pat (David) DeLambo, and brother-in-law, Dan (Katey) Devine. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Kay (Feran) Scott, and her sister, Teresa Rose Devine.

Friends and family may call 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at St. Mary's, 340 N. Main Street, Hudson, OH 44236, with reception to follow. In lieu of donations, we encourage you to consider regularly donating blood and platelets to be given to those in need.
