Charlene Dixson

d. January 27, 2013

CUYAHOGA FALLS -Charlene (Sponseller) Dixson was born in Alliance, OH on September 24, 1925 and died in Cuyahoga Falls on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She graduated from Alliance High School in June 1943 after which she became a "Rosie the Riveter" to aid in America's war effort. She spent 40 years deeply researching her and her husband's genealogies. She discovered one of her ancestors' 1700's Bible containing handwritten family records of two generations, the eldest a Revolutionary War veteran, and had the documentation published. She presented completed family group sheets to many libraries where further researchers might find them, taking each family back to their immigration to America, many families prior to the American Revolution.

Charlene was a Brownie Scout leader when her daughters were of the proper age and her memberships through the years included Chapters in the Daughters of the American Revolution in Martinez, CA, Alliance, OH and Cuyahoga Falls, OH, with nine ancestors proven to have aided in the cause of liberty. Newcomers Clubs in Lorain, OH, Boardman, OH and Plymouth, MI; Mothers of Twins Club, Cuyahoga Falls, OH (mid and late 1950's); Women's Clubs in Alliance, OH, Downers Grove, IL and Cuyahoga Falls, OH, helping these organizations to the best of her abilities.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Thelma (Nogle) Sponseller. Her husband of 52 years, Wilbur C. Dixson, Jr., was deceased in 2002. She is survived by her twin daughters: Susan Lee (Mrs. Brian Borrell) and Sandra Dixson; granddaughter Kathleen Anne Borrell; brother Harold P. Sponseller (Barbara) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday, January 31st from 6 to 9 PM at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow.
