STOW - Dena, at age 93, died peacefully on January 2, 2014 in the comfort of her home, as was her wish.
Born in Giungano, Italy on June 16, 1920, she came to the United States with her family at the age of 11 months. Her life was filled with joy, love and the sense of giving and caring for others. Married to Joe Cocozzo for almost 50 years until his death in 1992, she was always a source of strength and compassion to her entire family. Her God and church played a major role in her long and amazing life.
Preceded in death by her parents, Louigi and Maria Palumbo, husband Joe, siblings Nick, Phil, Anna, Hilda, Irene and Lucy, nephew Joe Mariola, she leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Joe (Donna), Tony (Leslie) and Rich (Liz); grandchildren Chris, Joel, Jessica, Shannon, Tony Cameron, Michael, Kyle and Luba; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and 20 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday 4 to 8 PM at Redmon Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial Monday 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow. Burial Stow Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Phil Palumbo Endowment Fund of the University of Akron or the Holy Family School Endowment Fund.
