MUNROE FALLS - Dr. Collin A. Myers passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, after a long battle with heart disease.
Born on Independence Day in 1947, Collin grew up in Warsaw, New York. Collin was devout in his faith to the Lord and encouraged others to grow in their faith. He never met a stranger and shared his faith with whomever would listen.
Collin loved music and to share his faith through singing. He enjoyed playing both the piano and trombone. He relished meeting people and sharing meals with others through his gift of entertaining.
He gained his undergraduate degree at Houghton University, where he met his first wife, M. Rebecca Tatter-Myers.
Collin later earned his Master’s degree in Special Education from Kent State University, where he also received his Ph.D. in Special Education. He gained his Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor certificate from Walsh University.
During his first career as a teacher, he served as a full-time professor at Notre Dame College and later at Walsh University.
Later he opened his own clinical counseling practice in the Cuyahoga Falls and later Stow communities, which he ran under the name of Fairhaven Counseling for more than three decades.
Collin was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky, and is survived by his two children, Sara (Mark) Baxter and Andrew Myers; grandchildren, Felicity Baxter and George Baxter, and his wife, Jean Piper Myers, to whom he had been married for 16 years.
He was also stepfather to Brandon (Emily) Martinez, Scribe (Stephanie) Martinez, Kara Gati, and the late Joey Gati, and stepgrandfather to Grant and Elle Martinez, Daniel and Tristan Martinez, and Alexis Esper, Aliyah Rogers, and Jayden Rogers. He took particular delight in watching his grandchildren grow.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at calling hours on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 4 - 7 PM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224.
His funeral will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 11 AM, at the River of Life Community Church, 5649 Stow Road, Hudson 44236.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scholarship Fund at Redeemer Christian School, 2141 Fifth Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221, where he served as a school counselor for many years.
