Born on Independence Day in 1947, Collin grew up in Warsaw, New York. Collin was devout in his faith to the Lord and encouraged others to grow in their faith. He never met a stranger and shared his faith with whomever would listen.

During his first career as a teacher, he served as a full-time professor at Notre Dame College and later at Walsh University.

Later he opened his own clinical counseling practice in the Cuyahoga Falls and later Stow communities, which he ran under the name of Fairhaven Counseling for more than three decades.

Collin was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky, and is survived by his two children, Sara (Mark) Baxter and Andrew Myers; grandchildren, Felicity Baxter and George Baxter, and his wife, Jean Piper Myers, to whom he had been married for 16 years.

He was also stepfather to Brandon (Emily) Martinez, Scribe (Stephanie) Martinez, Kara Gati, and the late Joey Gati, and stepgrandfather to Grant and Elle Martinez, Daniel and Tristan Martinez, and Alexis Esper, Aliyah Rogers, and Jayden Rogers. He took particular delight in watching his grandchildren grow.
