STOW – Daniel (Dan) Powers died September 11, 2026, after a long illness.

A cherished husband, dedicated father, and beloved friend, Daniel was born on August 21, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, moving shortly thereafter to Ohio. He was the treasured son of Carol and the late Larry Powers, and he grew up surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends.

Daniel graduated from Madison High School in 1989, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and exploration. His academic journey continued at Kent State University, where he began his career and quickly rose through the ranks to become a product lead. His colleagues remember him as a hard worker and team player. After a fulfilling career, he retired in 2025, leaving behind a legacy of diligence and dedication.

In 2002, Daniel married the love of his life, Shannon (Schmidt) Powers, in Akron, Ohio. Together, they shared nearly 24 years of marriage, filled with joy and a lot of laughter. Their love story was enriched by their two children, Connor and Aidan Powers, who were at the center of Daniel's world. As a father, he was an avid reader and gamer, always showing his children ways to have fun. His passion for Legos, Star Wars, and Marvel was infectious, marking him as a true enthusiast of the fantastical and imaginative.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and personal interests, Daniel was known for his resilience and the quiet strength he demonstrated throughout his life. He faced brain cancer with grace and courage, supported by his family and friends, and was deeply grateful for the care he received from doctors and nurses at Akron General, Summa Hospital, and Summa Hospice.

Daniel is predeceased by his father, Larry Powers; his grandparents, CJ and Viola Powers and David and Margaret Calhoun; his aunt, Mary Lou Powers; and his mother-in-law, Kathleen Schmidt. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving wife, Shannon; his children, Connor and Aidan; his mother, Carol (Calhoun) Powers, and her partner, Dick Kennelly; his sister, Kathleen (Nick) Walker; his father-in-law, Jason (Caroline Cantner) Schmidt; as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A service conducted by Dan Page will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Rd., Stow, OH. Friends and family may call on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation in his memory, an organization committed to advancing research and providing support for those affected by this challenging illness.
