David E. Fair

STOW- David E. Fair, 78, went home to be with his Lord on February 18, 2015.



He was born February 24, 1936 in Akron, Ohio to Joseph and Dolly Fair. He graduated from Tallmadge High School in 1954 and went on to earn his B.S. from Wheaton College and his M.A. from The University of Akron. He also served as a captain in the U.S. Army. David served on staff at the Chapel in Akron and was the founder and director of Shelter Care, Inc.



He lived a life of service to his Lord and touched the lives of many with his tender-hearted compassion, wisdom and humor. He was a role model to all that knew him.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dolly Fair; his sister, Lois Ann Fair; and his daughter, Valerie Strickler. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara; daughter, Donna Davis (Tom); son, Wes Fair (Pam); brothers, Arnold (Sue) and Dale; sister, Marilyn Flickinger (Dick); grandchildren, Hanna Davis, Matthew and Seth Strickler, David, Chris, and Lauren Fair. And many others who were touched by his life and ministry.



Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for calling hours Sunday 12 to 3 and 6 to 9 PM. Funeral service will be Monday 11 AM in Memorial Chapel at The Chapel, 135 Fir Hill, Akron 44304, Rev. David Burnham and Rev. Knute Larson officiating. Friends may call Monday at the church from 10 AM until service time. Burial Tallmadge Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Shelter Care, Inc., 32 South Avenue, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
