Obituary

STOW – David A. Pettitt, 75, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2026.

Born June 21, 1951, in Wilmington, North Carolina, David was the son of the late Jack and Irene Pettitt. He spent most of his life in Barberton before moving to Stow in 2014 to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren, who meant so much to him.

David worked as a mechanical engineer until his retirement a few years ago. He had a passion for martial arts, which he practiced for more than 40 years, and remained dedicated to staying active and working out throughout his life. He had a natural talent for tinkering, inventing, and figuring out how things worked. He also enjoyed going to the movies and attending live music, especially performances by his favorite band, La Flavour. Some of his greatest joys came from cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with the people he loved.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Amanda (Michael) Klapp and Maura (Brandon Gawlik) Rider; grandchildren, Lexi (Casie Mingas) Chambers, Lily Chambers, Kylie Rider, Kensley Rider, Kalina Gawlik and one great-grandbaby boy on the way; sisters, Debbie (Jim) Shiley and Nancy (Mike) Heath; brothers, Robert (Susan) Pettitt and Jim (Diane) Pettitt; his beloved aunt, Rosemary Madjerac; and girlfriend of 30 years, Ruthie Geller.

The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the  American Heart Association.
