MUNROE FALLS - Donald L. Gindlesberger went home to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Margie, on September 17, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born to Waldo and Erma (Logsdon) Gindlesberger on January 7, 1935, in Millersburg, Ohio. He was a 1952 graduate of Ripley Local Schools in Big Prairie, Ohio, after spending most of his education at Lakeville High School in Lakeville, Ohio. After graduation, he attended Kent State University graduating in June, 1956, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. During those formative years, he received an excellent education while playing his favorite sport, basketball. Friendships were developed with many of those players that remained throughout his life. He joined the U.S. Air Force in October 1956, to begin his training as a navigator in Harlingen, Texas, and eventually was stationed at Pease AFB, Portsmouth, NH. After discharge from the USAF, he worked 31 years at the Fred Arbogast Company with his friend, coach, and boss, Dick Kotis. The next nine working years were spent at ASW Services in Mogadore. After retiring, he spent 20 years as a starter at Brookledge Golf Course, as well as many mornings playing golf with the "dew crew." Don loved spending time with the family he and Margie created, whether it was at their children's or grandkids’ sporting events, holidays, or at their favorite vacation at Hilton Head Island. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and trustee. His faith made his journey home peaceful. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Margie) Skinner Gindlesberger; his parents, Waldo and Erma Gindlesberger, and brother and sister-in-law, Wade Gindlesberger and Shirley (Frink) Gindlesberger. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lavonne (Wise) Gindlesberger; and the other loves of his life, his children, Kathy and John (Myers), Gay and Tim (Welker), and Scott and Susie Gindlesberger; grandchildren, Erin and Pat (Kendrick), Brett and Danyelle (Myers), Kelly and Jon (Spring), Sam, Jack, and Kara Gindlesberger, and Derek and Abby Carmichael (Gindlesberger), as well as great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Blakely Spring, and CJ Myers. I'd like the memory of me be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when my day is done, I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of the happy times, the laughing times, the bright, sunny, clear days of Spring. I'd like the tears of those who grieve for me to dry today before the setting of the sun, and to think of all the happy memories we have shared together. Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM, where memorial service will be held TUESDAY 11:30 AM. Burial to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Seidman Cancer Center, 5133 Ridge Road, Wadsworth, OH 44281, or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
