Obituary of Dr. Charles Leon Henault
Charles Leon Henault, M.D., Family Practitioner
Charles Leon Henault was born in Akron on March 10, 1929. He passed away on May 18, 2015. He was the only son of Virginia Margaret and Leon Gustav Henault. He attended Stow Public Schools before enrolling at Kent State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951. He graduated from Ohio State University with his M.D. in 1955, immediately taking an internship and residency at Akron City Hospital from 1955-56. He entered the United States Air Force as a captain and was assigned to a USAF medical facility in Tokyo, Japan.
Dr. Henault met his first wife, Helene (Toshiko) Matsuda, while stationed in Tokyo. The couple married in 1957 and had three children before leaving Japan to settle in the Akron area in 1961. Charles and Helene were married until her death in December 1983. In 1985, Dr. Henault married Kathleen Burke, who survives him along with his children Michelle Henault Morrone, Cecile Gitter, Leon Charles Henault, stepchildren Russell Ilg and Kathy Lyn Ilg and eight grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home 3633 Darrow Road, Stow Ohio for visitation Saturday 10 AM and where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 23 at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Stow Cemetery with military honors being conducted by Charles Faust American Legion Post 281, Cuyahoga Falls.
