Edward H. Osman, 90, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on February 2, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty and son, Larry and is survived by daughter, Shirley Rose; sister, Mildred Monteith; brother-in-law, Mike Jacob; sister-in-law, Blanche Housley, sister-in-law, Jane Osman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ed was born in Stow, Ohio to Harry Osman and Lena (Scheuneman) Osman on March 5, 1922. He graduated from Stow High School in 1940 and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Hulick on April 17, 1943. He was inducted into the Army-Air Corps in 1943 and went to flight school. He flew B-17's over Germany during World War II. After the war, he worked for Ohio Bell Telephone in Akron, Ohio. He was recalled in 1951 for the Berlin Airlift and the Korean Conflict and flew combat cargo missions in Korea. He stayed in the service and was in SAC as a B-47 bomber pilot. He spent three months in Vietnam. During his military career he received many awards including the Purple Heart. Ed retired at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base on July 1, 1970 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He and Betty stayed in Tucson.

In retirement, he worked for the Post Office for 14 years. After he retired from the Post Office he made jewelry with turquoise stones and silver. He enjoyed golfing and lived on a golf course. He and Betty also enjoyed bowling. He also called all of his high school classmates three to four times a year. Every Wednesday he spoke to three classmates when they met for lunch.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio.
