Edward J. Smerk, Jr.

STOW - Edward J. Smerk, Jr., 83, died September 4, 2023.

Born in Cleveland, he has been a resident of Stow since 1974. Edward had been employed with General Die Casters, Inc., as a machinist, retiring after almost 50 years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Edward enjoyed fishing, puzzles, and watching television.

Preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Smerk, Sr.; mother, Anna Bennett; sister, Mary Ann Black; daughter, Jennifer Movens, and son, Mark Smerk. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geneva Smerk; children, David (Jackie) Smerk, Sherry (Shawn) Kesler, Andy (Kerri) Smerk, and Buddy Smerk; grandchildren, Mitchell, Ryan, Andrea (Jenna) Phillips, Tony (Amanda), Alex (Hannah), Ben, Jerid Movens, Joseph (Jessica), Amanda (Blake) Stebner, Ashley, Sage, Kane, Erica Tucker, Victoria, Derrick, and Samantha, as well as many great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be held 7 PM, Friday, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224. Edward’s last wishes were that only his children and grandchildren were to attend his visitation, 4 PM to 7 PM, Friday, at the funeral home.
