Obituary of Elizabeth Schostak

STOW - Elizabeth Schostak, age 87, died on Friday, November 25, 2016 peacefully at home.

Known as Elizabeth, Liz, Lizzy, Bette, or sometimes Red, she was a hard worker, loving wife, mom, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all.

Elizabeth was known for her red hair and "great gams" and favored mini-skirts and heels. A woman not content with sitting still, you could find her working in the yard, baking Kolache, or even climbing on roofs to clean gutters well into her late 70's.

She worked during most of her life with pauses to have her five children. Her early jobs were in manufacturing, including Magnetics and Forest Manufacturing, and later in her "retirement" as a cleaning person at physician offices and at Western Reserve Academy.

She met her husband while he was on his Indian Chief motorcycle and soon fell in love with him and with riding. They enjoyed their early years together exploring the countryside on his bike with their riding club.

Elizabeth was an avid bowler with a shelf of trophies as well as a gardener who, at one time, could identify almost any plant. Later in life she enjoyed collecting owl figurines and Santas.

She loved playing with her grandchildren"running around with them in the yard, playing ball and cards, baking cookies and making lots of happy memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; son Brian; mother, Mary Zunick; and siblings, George, Stella, Michael, Peter, and Olga.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Hinz; daughters, Diana Packard (John), Susan Schostak, Sandra Williams (Robert); son, Walter Schostak (Cynthia); as well as seven grandchildren, Ryan and Erika Packard, Adam, Andrew and Benjamin Wehmann, and Walter and Julia Schostak.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM, where Father Jerry Hall will conduct Trisagion service at 6 PM. Very Rev. Fr. John Memorich will conduct graveside service Wednesday 10 AM at Highland Park Cemetery in Cleveland.
