Obituary of Elnora M. Day

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Elnora M. (Sitton) Day, 98, went home to be with her Lord on August 9, 2017.

Born July 15,1919, in Winfield, MO, Elnora and her husband, Marvin, moved to Akron as newlyweds. They lived in Stow for most of their adult lives where they raised four sons. She moved to Cuyahoga Falls after Marvin passed away in 1997. Elnora worked as a licensed beautician in Missouri in the late 1940's and in Ohio in the early 1950's. After her sons became teenagers, she worked as a seamstress in Akron, where she tailored men's suits and women's fashions for Sears at Chapel Hill Mall. As an adult, she renewed her childhood relationship with Christ and found great comfort and strength in prayer and studying the Bible. She delighted in hosting home Bible studies and neighborhood Bible clubs for children, especially her grandchildren. She volunteered at Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, at Good Neighbors, and at the Haven of Rest homeless shelter for decades, and was blessed with many faithful friends. Elnora was a prayer warrior with a gentle spirit and an iron will. Her life was a beacon of discipline, precision and endurance.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jerome (Romie) and Myrtle Sitton; sister Kathryn (Sitton) Presley; brother Vincil; husband, Marvin; son, William; and granddaughter, Tara (Day) Kaglic; she is survived by sons Kenneth (Debbie), Edward and Ron (Jane); grandchildren: lan, Andrea (Rick) Durrant, Ariana, Jason (Janet); Ashley (Eric) Albrecht; Christina (Dan) Turner; Courtney (Philip) McNaull and 10 great grandchildren. Private burial has taken place at Crown Hill Cemetery, Twinsburg, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 19 at 4 p.m. at Stow Alliance Fellowship Church, 4460 Stow Road, Stow with Pastor John Kitchen officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven of Rest Ministries or to Stow Alliance Fellowship.
