Florence (Flo) E. Allen

July 30, 1941 — June 1, 2025

Brimfield

BRIMFIELD - Florence (Flo) E. Allen went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 30, 1941, in Murphy, NC. She was raised in Stow and graduated from Stow High School in 1959. She retired at age 52 from GenCorp as the Manager of accounts receivable, after 31 years of service.

Flo loved working outdoors. There was no task too big or small. Part of the joy was working with others to form a plan, get the job done, and cross it off the “to-do” list.

She took pleasure in quiet times fishing on Lake Okeechobee and Cowan Lake. Life was always better on the lake, whether the fish were biting or not . . . but admittedly times were more exciting with fish in the bucket. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed years of attending Cleveland Indians and Guardians baseball games. Friday night games with hot dogs and fireworks were her favorite.

Flo never met a stranger. Every new face was a new friend to be made. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Chapel of Prayer Church, where she enjoyed working in the nursery and kitchen and driving the van to provide transportation for fellow parishioners. She especially liked planting flowers with her good friend, Nancy Hashman.

Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel and Lillian Allen, and nephew-in-law, Lawrence Sutter. She leaves behind her best friend and companion of 51 years, Judithe Messman; sister, Jean Giulitto; brother-in-law, Joseph Giulitto; nephew, Michael (Carol) Giulitto; niece, Paula Giulitto; great-nieces, Jessica (Ethan Campbell) Giulitto and Emily (Theodore) Vynalek, as well as great-great nephew, Theo Vynalek.

Friends and family may call from 10 AM to 12 noon, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224, where funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Interment will be at Stow Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chapel of Prayer Baptist Church - Building Fund, 1811 Brittain Road, Akron, Ohio 44310 or the Portage Animal Protective League, P.O. Box 927, Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
