STOW - Gary R. Haney, 77, died October 28, 2025.

Born in Bedford, he was a resident of Stow. A protector, a provider, and a man whose heart was as big as his laugh, Gary Haney lived a life full of purpose, grit, and generosity. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and adventure.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Gary served his country with honor and carried that same strength and discipline into every part of his life. Whether it was family, work, or his passions, Gary gave it his all.

He was a man who loved speed and competition - if it could be raced, Gary was there for it. From motorcycles and race cars to snowmobiles, tractor pulls, and drag racing, he lived for the thrill of the engine and the camaraderie that came with it.

Gary worked hard and led by example, spending many years as a general superintendent and later as an owner-operator truck driver. He was a man who took pride in his work and in helping others succeed. He loved the open road and made it his mission to share the best diners, truck stops, and hidden gems along America’s highways with anyone willing to listen.

He also found joy on the sidelines as a coach for the semi-pro football team, the Akron Canton Bulldogs - guiding, mentoring, and celebrating others the way he did best.

At the heart of everything, Gary was a family man. He loved his wife, Charlotte, deeply and proudly celebrated their 56 years of marriage. He cherished his mom, adored his sons, and delighted in the accomplishments of his grandchildren. Every milestone, every success - big or small - Gary was there cheering the loudest.

One of his favorite traditions was traveling each year with his wife and son to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for Jeep Week - an annual adventure that reflected his love for travel, family, and fun.

Known by many names - “Blackbeard” on the CB, “Big G” to his buddies, “Grandpa” and “Pops” to those he loved most, and simply “Gary” to all who were lucky enough to know him - he was truly one of a kind.

Gary is survived by his mother, Fannie Bregant, and was the beloved son of the late Everett Haney.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Charlotte Haney; his sons, John Haney and Jason Haney; his grandchildren, Matthew, Rachel, and Ryan Haney; his brothers, Dennis Haney, David Peck, and Zane (ZB) Bregant, and was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bregant. He will also be remembered fondly by his uncle, Paul Green, and aunts, Sue House, Vicki Stewart, and Marianne Queen, along with countless friends and loved ones.

Gary’s presence filled every room, his laughter filled every heart, and his love filled every mile of road he traveled. Though he’s gone, his spirit rides on - forever in the hearts of those he touched.
