Georgia Zoann Lichtenfels

July 21, 1940 — September 17, 2025

Akron

AKRON - It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia Zoann Lichtenfels, 85, who passed away peacefully at the Village of St. Edward at Green on September 17, 2025.

Her passing leaves a deep hole in the hearts of all who loved her, but also joyfulness at the trust that she is made whole again in the beauty of Heaven.

Georgia was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished great-grandmother. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Vaughn, whom she was married to for over 65 years; two daughters, Pamela Jenkins (Merle) and Tracy Gibbs (David); four granddaughters, Alicia Graves (Christopher), Melissa Welsh (John), Julianne Jenkins and Emily Varney (Michael); six great-grandchildren, Camden and Alexis Graves, JJ and Zyaire Stowers, Zoey and Raelynn Varney; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Carroll and Sandy Guckert (Robert), as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

She was born at home in Jenner Twp., Pennsylvania, on July 21, 1940, to William and Mildred (Brant) Carroll. She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Della Lichtenfels (Bill), Kathryn Resh (Terry), William Carroll, James Carroll, Leroy Carroll and infant brother, Mark.

Georgia worked for many years as a sales clerk at various department stores. She was also a nanny for several different families, but the last family she was with for over 20 years. Katie and Joey Durr always held a special place in her heart. She also helped her husband, Vaughn, run his business, GVS Safety Supplies.

She became Catholic in 1986 and attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow, OH and St. Eugene Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. She enjoyed praying the rosary and couldn't wait to meet the Lord.

Georgia had a gift for entertaining. She would welcome family, friends, and even total strangers into her home for holiday parties, meals and get-togethers. She found joy in celebrating, no matter what the occasion. Baking and cooking for others were some of her favorite pastimes. Her specialties included her famous apple dumplings and sugar pie. She had a love of coffee, shopping, garage sales, and playing cards. Georgia loved traveling with her husband, Vaughn, and enjoyed going on many cruises together.

Family meant everything to her! Making sure her family was taken care of was of utmost importance to Georgia. Her pride and love of her family showed in all she did. She had the most genuine and caring heart. She would drop everything to help out wherever she was needed. Her love and willingness to assist others is something that will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Traditions Hospice, especially her nurse, Rita, and aide, Amie, as well as the staff at The Village of St. Edward at Green, who cared for Georgia so kindly, especially in her final days.
