Obituary of Goldie Wilson Eagle

Mrs. Goldie Wilson Eagle peacefully passed away March 6, 2016, at her home in Stow, Ohio.

Goldie meant more to those she touched than words could ever express. She is and always will be profoundly missed.

Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on December 4, 1922, the only child of Frank and Ethel Wilson, she was preceded in death by her parents and seven step-brothers and -sisters, and by her husband of 27 years, N.H. (Harry) Eagle, in 1976.

A graduate of Grafton (WV) High School, Goldie came to Akron in 1942, moving to Stow in 1952, where she resided until the time of her death.

Goldie went to work at the United Rubber Workers International Union offices in April of 1942, retiring from there in May 1979. She was always devoted to her work at the URW where she served in secretarial positions in the District 1 Office, Organizational Department, Comptroller's Office, and as Executive Secretary to the Secretary-Treasurer of the International Union from 1953 until her retirement. She treasured the many friendships developed throughout those years.

Goldie was a long-time member of the Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church located on East Waterloo Rd. She was a member of the SDA Goldenaires Club and a devoted worker in several areas of the Church. She was also a member of the Office & Professional Employees Union, Local No. 339 (retired), URW Local 6 Retirement Club and Twenty Year Club, and the Independent Order of Foresters and Maccabees.

She is survived by her own beloved "children," the Coleman, Gold, Wilson, and Barnett families. Goldie is also survived by several nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, as well as many close friends, notably her dear neighbor, Beverly Desanzo.

Goldie's family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers, Carol, Misha, Barb, Cheryl, Tracy and Terry; the wonderful medical staffs at both Western Reserve Hospital, and Alter-Care Post-Acute Rehabilitation Center in Brimfield.

Friends may call at the Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Rd. in Stow on Thursday, March 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Services will take place at Redmon Funeral Home on Friday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Pastor Edward (Ted) Bartter, followed by burial at Crown Hill Cemetery, Route 91, Twinsburg, Ohio.

For those who so desire, memorials may be sent to the Akron First Seventh-Day Adventist Church or to a favorite charity.
