Harry Simmons Kepler, Jr. of Stow, Ohio, passed away on August 8th at the age of 91.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen (Clark) Kepler, son Theodore E. Kepler (Kolleen), and grandson Daniel Kepler.
In 1942, Harry joined the Navy Submarine Services. He was stationed in Pearl Harbor on-board the submarine U.S.S. Dolphin until he received a medical degree discharge.
Harry had a musical background and was quite a pianist. He enrolled in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, graduating with a Piano Technology Degree. Harry ran a very successful business until he retired in 2000 after 52 years as a piano technician. This proved to be a very good profession for Harry and he had many great experiences tuning for and befriending many musicians such as Liberace, Roger Williams, Ferronte, and Teicher, etc.
Harry also had a talent for car racing and was the Ohio Racing Champion in 1957-58. Never forgotten were his submarine years and he was an active member of the Northeast Ohio Submarine Veterans Association.
Harry and Mary Ellen were married in 1960. They travelled extensively and were inseparable for 57 years sharing total happiness. Harry took great pride in saying they never had a major disagreement.
Cremation has taken place and at Harry's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Tallmadge Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 12th at 4 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at a later date.
