Helen Hazel Noel

Helen Hutchinson Noel, age 98, of Hudson, passed away on April 25, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19. Helen was born in Gray Station, Pennsylvania and lived most of her life in Blairsville, Pennsylvania.

Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Sara Harvey, her mother Sarah Ryan, her husband Bud Hutchinson, and five siblings William, Jack, Gene, Sally, and Ellen. She was proud of her Irish heritage.

Helen was the beloved mother of Cathleen (Tom) Shoemaker of Hudson, and Bill Hutchinson of Arlington, Texas. She was the cherished grandmother of Megan (Jared) Drummer of Stow, and Jason (Stephanie) Shoemaker of Medina, and great-grandmother of Cole Drummer and Luke and Reagan Shoemaker.

Mom worked for Bell Telephone after high school graduation and later became a defense plant worker during WWII assembling depth charges for the U.S. Navy. After the death of Dad, she went to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She retired from her nursing career taking care of patients at Torrance State Mental Hospital in Pennsylvania. Mom was the most selfless person in the world. We all loved her and will miss her generosity and feisty spirit.

The family wants to thank the Arbors at Stow for the wonderful care she received the past several years.

A private graveside service is being held for the family, and she will be buried in Markillie Cemetery in Hudson.
