Obituary of Helen Louise Walter




Helen L. Walter, 97, died March 20, 2019.



Born in Barberton, she was a resident there until 1975, when she moved to North Hill, where she lived for the next 25 years. Helen was a relentless worker and devoted caregiver to her entire family, covering generations, from her grandfather to her grandchildren. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, she loved bowling in her younger years, ceramics and embroidery, and was an avid cardplayer. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Amish country.



Helen was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Zita (nee Meehan) Thesing, first husband Edward Petit; second husband Steve Walter; son Raymond Petit; siblings Frances Sherwood, Joseph Thesing, Therese Herchek and John Thesing; step-son Dominic Walter and son-in-law Dave Keller. She is survived by her elevenchildren, Karen (Phil) Kamlowsky, Edward, Jr. (Carol) Petit, Therese Keller, Helen (Dennis) Carr, Denis (Patty) Petit, Thomas Petit, James (Linda) Petit, Kevin (Pat) Petit, John (Tracie Goetz) Petit, Anthony (Heather) Petit and Patrick (Missy) Petit; step-children Carol (Walt) Hays, Peg (Bill) Maltarich, Pam (Joe) Crugnale; 43 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; sevengreat-great-grandchildren; siblings Hugh "Chuck" Thesing, Zita Gavinesky, Lucy Sansosti, Monica (Harold) Krause, Jim (Mary C.) Thesing, Mary Hardbarger and Bernadine (Larry) Weatherford.



Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Sunday 2 to 5 PM. Mass of the Christian Burial Monday 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Fr. Paul Rosing celebrant with Helen's son-in-law, Deacon Phil Kamlowsky, assisting. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 1404 East 9th Street, 3rd Floor, Cleveland, 44114, www.svdpcle.org.
