Obituary of Jack F. Mercer

Jack F. Mercer, 86, passed away October 30, 2018.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Jack was a long-time resident of Northeast Ohio. Jack graduated from Madison High School and Ohio University where he met his wife, Marcy. After graduation, Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Professor from Akron University. Jack was an avid stamp collector, enjoyed gardening, was a big sports fan, coached and officiated high school and college sports, and later in life, enjoyed traveling. Jack was also a member of Peninsula United Methodist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marcy; children, Tom (Linda), Dave, Scott, Greg (Denise); grandchildren, Kendall, Derek, Megan, Ladd, Hanna, Emily, Erin, Nathan, Reece, Devan, Grant, Madison; great-grandchildren, Vincent and Owen; and sister, Eleanor (Terry) Carraher.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 3 from 3 to 6 PM at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
