James Gordon Ballis, 79, born in Stow, Ohio, passed away on December 11, 2016 due to complications of Parkinson's disease.

A longtime resident of Stow, he retired from General Motors in 1992. Jim and his wife Ruth made their retirement home on Lake Anna, Mineral , Virginia.

Jim loved his wife and longtime fishing buddy, Ruth D. Ballis. He loved all of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved fishing, hunting, woodworking, taking photographs of birds, and reading his Bible. He was a friend to all and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jim was a man of faith. He was a member of Elkcreek Baptist Church in Virginia, and after relocating back to Ohio he attended Christian Life Center in Kent and Highmill Christian Church in Canton.

Jim is survived by his children, David M. Ballis, Nina M. Ballis Goodlet, BethAnn Ballis Triberhorn (James), James W. Ballis (Julie), Scharlotte H. Ballis Medhurst (John), Janice M. Hall Hogan (Earl), Diane R. Hall Nigh (Jim), William J. Hall, Theresa A. Hall Petersen (Steve), Daniel R. Hall (Chris), and Sharon L. Hall.

He is preceded in death by his soulmate, Ruth D. Ballis, his parents and siblings, son, Stephen S. Ballis and daughter Marie C. Hall Yates.

Family and friends are invited to the Redmon funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, Ohio (www.redmonfuneralhome.com) for visitation Thursday from4 to 8 pm, with service on Friday at 11:00 am followed by interment at Stow Cemetery.
