CANTON - James W. Lee, 82, passed away April 21, 2026, after a two-year fight against cancer. James was deeply loved by his family and friends and known as “Jimmy", "Pap", "Pops", or "Uncle Jim". Jim was just a few months shy of turning 83 years old, and he would quickly tell you he "has lived a wonderful life". Jim left behind a very large family whom he loved with an amazing, unconditional love. More importantly, Jim had a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We know Jim loved the Lord and we know lie is with his Savior now. For that, we find amazing comfort and will be forever grateful.
If you knew Jim personally, you knew he was the type or man who would help anyone he could, when he heard or the need. Jim also had quite a dry sense of humor and some of the "sayings" he had would literally leave you laughing until it hurt! Jim was the perfect example of what "Love or God, Family. and Country" meant, as he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 17 years old. He proudly served his country for 8 years as a Marine, stationed at Camp Lejeune. Jim was also a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Stow for 10 years, where he served his community, expecting nothing in return. Jim retired as a Purchasing Agent from Morgan Adhesives/MacTac after 43 years of service. There, he made countless friends and held those friendships very close. If you would drive down Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls any time after Thanksgiving, you would find Jim selling Christmas Trees with his close friend and sidekick, Phil Peretta, which he enjoyed doing lor 16 years. There at the "tree lot", Jim knew many repeat customers, enjoyed tons of homemade cookies from them, and had more stories to share "than you could shake a stick at", (as he would say). Jim loved riding in one of his pickup trucks listening to bluegrass music, mainly one of his favorite bands was "The Ralph Stanley Band".
Jim married the love of his life, Carolyne, whom he was married to for 43 years, until her untimely death in February 2009. Jim lost Carolyne and just 6 months later, he also lost their youngest of three sons, "Richie". Even through two sudden, devastating losses of family, Jim remained resilient, positive, and grounded in his faith in the Lord. Jim went on to marry his wife, Mary, whom he leaves behind after 12 years or marriage. Together, he and Mary shared countless memories, lots of laughter, and they enjoyed the company of friends and family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Lee; wife, Carolyne Lee; son, James Richard Lee; grandson, Casey Arbaugh; brother-in-law, Chuck Hammer, and many other family members who are never forgotten. Jim leaves behind his wife, Mary; sons, Larry (Liz) Lee, Carl (Julie) Lee, and daughter, Donna Copp. Jim was "Pap” to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim would have been a great great-grandfather/ “Pap" this coming August 2026. Jim also leaves behind sister, Sandra Olson; many half-siblings; sisters-in-law, Mary McMillan, Anne Mozie, Sue Lightfoot, and Pat Hammer, all who love him so much. Dad, Pops. Pap, Jimmy...we will all see you again!
Funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday May 2, 2026, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, OH 44224. Friends may call from 9 AM to service time, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial Northampton Cemetery.
