KENT - James (Jim) Arthur Tackett Sr. passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Tackett, and his mother, Janet Tackett.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Dorothy Tackett, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. Their relationship was built on laughter, companionship, and standing beside one another through life’s many seasons. The bond they shared was evident to everyone around them.

Jim is also survived by his son, James Tackett Jr. and daughter-in-law, Chelsie Tackett; three grandsons, Rowan, Bodie, and Jack; sister Rhonda Wiggins and brother-in-law Rob Wiggins; niece Raquel Long and nephew-in-law Kyle Long; nephew Ryan Wiggins and niece-in-law Hannah Wiggins; and two great-nieces.

Being a father was one of the greatest joys of Jim’s life. He was incredibly proud of his son and never missed an opportunity to talk about him and celebrate all of his accomplishments. Nothing brought Jim more happiness than his three grandsons. They were truly his pride and joy. He was never shy about letting the world know just how much they meant to him, proudly showing them off to anyone who would listen and sharing stories about them with a smile that could light up a room.

For many years, Jim was known for running Tackett’s Towing alongside his father, Arthur Tackett, where he formed countless friendships. He was the kind of person who made life a little better for those around him. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and seized every opportunity to tell a joke—whether you wanted to hear it or not.

While his passing leaves a tremendous emptiness for those who loved him, Jim leaves behind countless memories, endless laughter, and a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes, a private service will be held with his immediate family, who will gather to celebrate his life, share memories, and honor the man he was.
