Obituary of James Neal Thompson

Mr. James N. Thompson, son of the late Leslie and Geraldine Thompson, was born December 13, 1941 in Bay City, Michigan. He unexpectedly left this world too soon on August 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by brothers David and Gerald (Jerry). He was united in holy matrimony to Ruth (Schnople) on January 30, 1960. The Lord blessed them with 58 years together and two sons; James (Mike) and Connie Thompson of Kent, Richard Thompson of Akron; sister Bonnie (Gary) Billcheck of Florida, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jim started his career as a salesman at W.E. Wrights in Stow, Ohio. He pursued an opportunity and served 23 years at Montgomery Ward, starting in the Cuyahoga Falls store. He ended his tenure with Wards as Vice-President of Automotive Service. After Montgomery Ward, he had senior management positions with other major companies until working collectively with investors. He created and ran his own business until he retired in 2007.

Outside of working, he shared his unwavering faith in God and love of his family. He was also a HAM radio operator (call number KB8SJ). Spending time outdoors with his wife, grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Bella and Benny, were some of his best.

Cremation has taken place. Pastor Cyndie Rogers will officiate a Celebration of Life ceremony at Victory Life Church in Stow, Ohio, where Jim was a member for the last 10 years. It will be held Saturday Sept 1, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's name to the church.
