Joanne M. Zurawsky

Joanne M. Zurawsky, 73, of Stow, passed away on July 19, 2016.

Joanne was born in Akron, Ohio on September 25, 1942 and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1960. She was employed by First Energy Corporation (Ohio Edison) for 37 years, retiring in 1998. She began as a key punch operator and became one of the first women to work in a variety of Information Technology support system positions.

Joanne was a positive, happy woman who lived life to the fullest. As a young child, she annually took camping vacations throughout the United States with her family. She and her husband enjoyed vacations to Las Vegas and Hilton Head Island. Joanne played organized softball, loved hiking and riding her motorcycle with friends. She loved traveling to the Double JJ Dude Ranch in Michigan. Joanne was an avid bowler and participated in the annual Ohio State Women's Bowling Tournament for 45 years. She loved to golf and helped organize a close knit group of golfing friends who became known as "The Great Eight".

Preceded in death by her parents, John C. Jr. and Helen V. Donald, Joanne is survived by her husband of 49 years, Allen T.; brother, John C. Donald III; sister, Margaret A. (Donald) Grigsby; sister-in-law, Alice N. Baldwin; special friends, Jim and Judy, Gary and Brenda, Ed and Judy, Paul and Jill, many nieces, nephews, and friends who will greatly miss her.

Visitation will be Friday, July 22, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of Joanne's life at 2:30 p.m. at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224 with Pastor David Brown officiating. The family wishes to thank ClearPath Hospice and the staff at the Gables of Hudson for the special care Joanne received during her stay.
