John W. Ackerman

KENT - John W. Ackerman, 87, passed away October 5, 2025.

Born in Highland Park, MI, he was a resident of Kent and a U.S. Navy veteran. John retired from the U.S. Navy at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 1986, which he was very proud of and enjoyed attending ship crew reunions.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was active in church ministry. John enjoyed auto racing, being a HAM radio operator, computers, Hershey bars, ice cream and above all his family, and the time he spent with them.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Theresa (Terry) Ackerman; parents, Jack and Virginia Ackerman, and sister, Bonnie Beck, he is survived by his son, James Ackerman; grandchildren, Samantha Ackerman and Matthew (Amanda) Ackerman.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 12 PM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 313 N. Depeyster Street, Kent 44240.  Friends may call from 9 to 11 AM, Friday, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow 44224.
