STOW - John Postiy Jr., 94 of Stow passed away at his home on July 20, 2026.

He was born August 28, 1931, to Della and John Postiy in Alliance, OH. John graduated from Alliance High School and went on to served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. John married Judith Grimm in December of 1958 and they were blessed with four children, Susanna (Tom) Sirgo, Rebecca (Frans) Coppers, Mark (fiancé, Allison McDevitt) Postiy, Matthew (Elizabeth) Postiy.

He is also survived by his sister, Linda Postiy.

He was also blessed with grandchildren, Robert (Emily) Garofalo, Maegen (fiancé, Aaron Teis) Postiy; along with special step-granddaughter, Cara (Jason) Bryant; great-grandchildren, Matthew, McKenna, Stella, Caitlyn, Emma, Drew, Hayden and Nina. God had blessed him with great-great-granddaughter, Kennedy.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Della and John; son, Matthew Postiy; sisters, Barbara Rebh, Betty Reeves.

John attended Mount Union College and became a licensed real estate agent. He later retired after finishing his career in the food industry. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, held many offices as a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the American Legion.

John enjoyed coaching t-ball and pitch teams for his sons and grandson.

John never wanted very much, he would say “just a beautiful wife, a wonderful family, good friends, and a lasting pot of gold.” One of his favorite sayings by Porky Pig, “THAT’S ALL, FOLKS.”

Calling hours will be held at Redmon Funeral Home. 3633 Darrow Rd. Stow, OH 44224 on Friday August 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a memorial service for he and his son, Mark Postiy, immediately following at 6:00 PM. Private burial will be held Saturday August 15, 2026, at Stow Cemetery.
