CUYAHOGA FALLS - Joseph (Joe) Criss, 68, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2025, at 3:26 PM.
Joe was born in Akron on September 10, 1956. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and attended Cuyahoga Falls schools. Shortly after Joe graduated from high school, he married his first love, Rochelle (Shelly), to whom he was married for 48 years. She was the absolute love of his life. Joe then worked in landscaping and construction for his whole life. He always worked his hardest, and made sure the job was done right!
Some of Joe's favorite activities included going on car rides, doing yard/housework, watching movies, and wearing plaid. Most importantly, Joe loved being with family and making everyone laugh.
Joe is survived by his two children, Anthony Criss and Brittany Criss; his two grandchildren, Carter Criss and Brooklyn Payne, and siblings, Laurel, Rose (John), and Louie (Kathy).
In Heaven, Joe joins his parents, Betty and Lewis Criss, and his brother, Harrison Criss. Most specially, Joe is joined again with his loving, loving wife, Shelly, who he has missed dearly.
Joe will be immensely missed by everyone who knew him, from family to friends, to the people he encountered. Joe had a smirk that could make anyone laugh. He truly impacted many people's lives. As much as we miss him, we know he is in Heaven watching over us every day and protecting us, just as he would if he was here. Joe will always look down on us and make sure we are okay, because that was the dad, the pappaw and the truly great friend that he always was.
