Karen J. Thomas

Karen Jean Thomas, 61, of Stow, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2015 with the comfort of her family sleeping by her side.

Karen was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Stanley and Helen Yurchison on September 13, 1954. She went to high school at Chaney and graduated in 1973. She went on to earn a degree in nursing from Youngstown State University and worked as a registered nurse for St. Elizabeth in Youngstown, Hermann in Houston, TX, and Cuyahoga Falls General for 35 years. She enjoyed caring for others, going on hikes, gardening, and spending time with her dear family. She was also involved in the Holy Family choir.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Pete; caring children, Caitlin and Griffin; her beautiful mother, Helen; and her kind brothers, Richard and Robert Yurchison. She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Stanley and cousin, Michael Thomas.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the hospital staff who helped Karen throughout her journey.

Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home where calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 1 to 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 10am with Father Paul Rosing celebrant, with a luncheon to follow in the lower church hall. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort, New York. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Parish, MOM's Ministry, 3450 Sycamore Dr., Stow, OH 44224.
