STOW - Kenneth Kapasi left his earthly body on April 1, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1951 in Windsor, Ontario and spent his life there until he moved to Stow, Ohio to be with his wife, Maureen in 2012. He spent many happy years there and he and Maureen blended their families together.
Being a papa was one of the great joys of his life. He also found joy in transforming simple ingredients into memorable meals. He loved camping with his wife Maureen in their RV and creating meals and memories over the campfire especially when he would have one of his famous bacon fries, a tradition passed along in his Hungarian family. In his early days he worked at Chrysler for a time and then ventured into the horse business, racing standardbred trotters and pacers with is where he befriended his future wife, Maureen, in the late 70s at Windsor Raceway. Their friendship continued for a time until Maureen headed back to Ohio. At that point, they both began lives with other partners. He then joined his family in the restaurant and catering business.
Some time later, Kenny and Maureen reunited as single people after the death of a mutual friend of theirs. Love blossomed and they eventually married. He truly loved his life in Ohio. He took pride in caring for his yard with his granddaughter, Jaelynn, following him around or riding with him on the tractor. He was like a kid himself and even dressed up as Blippi (if you have young kids, you know Blippi) for her. She always would say that papa was her best friend. He also took up woodworking and carving until working with his hands became too painful.
His youngest grandchildren, Andi Lynn and Brooks, Willy and Lindsay’s children, also gave him great pride and joy. He loved to facetime with them especially since the physical distance made in person visits challenging. He would say, “no wonder they are so good looking. They take after their papa.”
He would take frequent trips with Maureen to Columbus, Ohio to visit older grandkids, Sophia and Pete. He would enjoy watching Pete play his sports and Sophia cheering at the high school football games. He also has a bonus granddaughter, Carmen who was a half sister to Jaelynn and would frequently visit.
Kenny has a life well lived, sometimes on the edge and always on his terms. He was a teller of some bad jokes and would sometimes be the only one laughing. Well Kenny, you played the ultimate joke by passing on April Fools Day. You are pain free as you are entering heaven but you leave a big void in those who love you on earth and who grieve for you.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Irene Kapasi. Kenny is survived by his wife Maureen, son William Kapasi (Lindsey) of Staveley, Alberta, son Arny Martin (Christina) of Columbus, Ohio, daughter Heather Hinklin (Damian) of Stow, Ohio. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Andi Lynn, Brooks, Sophia, Pete, Jaelynn, and Carmen. In addition he leaves his siblings: Sandor Kapasi (Susan), Michael Kapasi (Luann), Brenda Dresser (Michael), Judy Morrison (Gary), Mary Henderson (Ron), Amy Rossi (Mark). He also leaves behind his former wife Eva Williams (Alejandro) and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services at this time. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
