Louis Anthony
Coccaro
Nov 25, 1962 — Oct 11, 2026
KENT - Louis Anthony Coccaro, 63, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at University Hospital in Cleveland. Along his journey, he touched the lives of many, including members of his healthcare team, who came to know and care for him. Louis fought a good fight, and now he may rest peacefully, having earned his well-deserved rest.
Louis Anthony Coccaro was born on Sunday, November 25, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York, to Anthony P. Coccaro and Margaret Coccaro (Collins).
Louis pursued his love of music through his studies at Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University, where he earned degrees in music. He later attended Kent State University (KSU), earning a master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
In 1993, Louis began his career at the Akron-Summit County Public Library’s Main Library, where he faithfully served until his retirement in 2024. He initially worked as a music librarian in the Audio-Visual (AV) Department. His extensive background in classical music served him well as he assisted patrons and selected a variety of AV materials, including CDs and DVDs. He later transitioned to Collection Management, where he helped coordinate AV material selection throughout the library system. In addition to his library responsibilities, Louis shared his knowledge and expertise by teaching a AV selection workshop at Kent State University and presenting AV sessions at Ohio Library Council (OLC) conferences.
Outside of work, Louis enjoyed listening to classical music, playing guitar, cooking, and watching football. He especially enjoyed watching YouTube videos featuring emerging classical guitarists, often marveling at their extraordinary talent and abilities. Having grown up in Florida before settling in Northeast Ohio, Louis experienced a change in football loyalties, trading his Miami Dolphins fandom for support of the Cleveland Browns.
On Saturday, September 3, 1994, Louis married Cynthia Thompson. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Michael Raymond Coccaro and Angela Marie Coccaro, who brought him great joy and pride. Louis had the pleasure of celebrating his daughter’s graduation from Ohio University, where she earned a degree in social work. He also shared in the happiness of his son Michael’s marriage to Courtney (Weidow).
Louis was devoted to helping and caring for his grandparents and parents throughout the years, demonstrating his deep love and commitment to family. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, son, uncle, nephew, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. His dedication to those he loved was an enduring reflection of his character.
Louis’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Cynthia; his father, Anthony and mother, Margaret; his son, Michael (Courtney); his daughter, Angela; his faithful K-9 companion, Bear; and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Louis will be remembered for his love of music, his dedication to his profession, and, above all, his devotion to his family. May he rest in eternal peace.
Pastor Dan Page will conduct services for Louis on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 12PM at Redmon Funeral Home 3633 Darrow Rd, Stow OH 44224. Friends and family may call from 11-12PM on Saturday, October 17 2026 at the funeral home.
