Maria Denise
Regan
Apr 23, 1964 — Jul 9, 2026
HUDSON - Maria Denise Regan (née Lavanty), 62, of Hudson, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026.
Born on April 23, 1964, in Ravenna, Ohio, Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Victoria Lavanty. She earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Akron and devoted nearly 30 years to teaching fifth grade in the Hudson City School District, where she inspired and encouraged thousands of students throughout her career.
On June 28, 1986, Maria married Stanley Regan. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, and family while raising their two sons, Kyle and Brandon, who were the greatest joys of her life. A devoted wife and mother, Maria’s love was steadfast and unconditional. Through warm hugs, heartfelt prayers, and thoughtful daily messages, she made sure those she loved always knew they were in her heart.
Maria’s warm heart, infectious smile, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She found her greatest happiness spending time with family, enjoying the sunshine, and traveling to New Smyrna Beach, the Smoky Mountains, Northern Ireland, and wherever life’s adventures with Stan would lead. She especially cherished the Fourth of July and Christmas spent together with family. She also enjoyed her favorite game shows and soap operas, treasured her beloved golden retriever, Chloe, and proudly referred to Una and Ella as her “grand dogs.”
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. As a member of DKG and at various times part of the Chapel on Fir Hill and Parkside Church, Maria faithfully prayed each day for her family, friends, and anyone in need, always seeking opportunities to encourage and uplift others.
Maria is survived by her sons, Kyle Regan and Brandon Regan; her siblings, David Lavanty, Victoria Lavanty, and Scott Lavanty; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues, and the thousands of students whose lives she touched throughout her teaching career.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Regan; her parents, Henry and Victoria Lavanty; and her siblings, John Lavanty and Deborah Mancuso.
Those who knew Maria will forever remember her warm hugs, faithful prayers, gentle guidance, and the reassuring way she made everyone she loved feel cared for. Her love was quiet but unwavering, and the lives she touched will forever be better because of it.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Maria by taking a moment to encourage someone, pray for someone in need, or support a cause that helps children learn and grow. In doing so, you will be carrying forward the kindness and compassion that defined her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
