CUYAHOGA FALLS - Mary Jo (Cramer) Brockway died peacefully on August 29, 2026. Mary Jo was born in Wichita Falls, TX on July 25, 1943, to Frances & Ernest “Bud” Cramer and grew up in Rantoul, IL.

After graduating with a degree in education from Eastern Illinois University, she taught high school English in Norfolk, VA and Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico where her husband, Lowell, was stationed in the Navy. After the Navy, Mary Jo and Lowell settled in Cuyahoga Falls, OH where they lived the rest of their lives.

Mary Jo left the teaching profession to raise her two sons, Stephen and John, and then spent many years working at North Lanes followed by working in the souvenir stands at Jacobs Field and Gund Arena. In those occupations, Mary Jo developed a love of bowling, the Indians/Guardians, and the Cavs. After retiring, she continued watching nearly every game, often on VHS recordings, until she finally learned the beauty of the DVR. An avid bowler, she was the secretary of her Monday night (Falls Boarding Kennel) ladies league where she developed lifelong friendships for over 40 years. Mary Jo was also a long-time member of Victory Life Church in Stow and loved sending thoughtful cards to friends and family.

After raising her two sons, Mary Jo’s greatest joy was being Grandma to Abbie and Allie. She loved babysitting,reading stories, having picnics, and going to the park with them when they were little. As they got older, Grandma loved attending the dance recitals and musicals the girls were in throughout middle school and high school.

In Heaven, Mary Jo will join Lowell, her husband of 55 years and her beloved son Stephen. In addition, she will join her parents and sister and brother-in-law (Jean & Jack Cramer-Heuerman), her sister-in-law and brother-in-law (Beverly & Jim Schrader), and nieces Brenda Schrader and Brielle Maulberger. She is survived by her son John and his wife, Angela, and grandchildren Abbie (Dylan) Combs & Aliana Brockway. She is also survived by a niece, Leeanne DeLock, & husband David, as well as great nieces Brenda, Olivia, and Luci, and great nephew Brockton.
