Mary Alice Lind

Jan 31, 1927 — Jun 6, 2026

HUDSON - Mary Alice Davis Lind, 99, passed away June 6, 2026.

Born on January 31, 1927 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. She was the first child born to Vera Osborne Davis and Leonard Chester Davis. Mary had one younger sibling. Barbara Davis Canterbury. They were raised in Wethersfield, Connecticut. Mary Alice graduated from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and majored in Piano.

While in Rochester for college, she met and married Charles Stewart Lind ( originally from New York City). They had three children, Janice Lind Champa, Susan Lind Dorman and David Davis Lind. Over the years of raising her three children, she took in 25 at risk kids, as an emergency foster home. They were from birth to toddlers in age. She loved to care for these children, and even brought her music into their troubled lives.

Mary used her music her whole life and played piano and organ for church worship services, 101 weddings and many funerals. She often volunteered at nearby nursing homes for small concerts and sing alongs throughout the years. Mary also had the gift of hospitality, and she was well known for the tea parties she gave to her family, friends, neighbors , and even had a small business of catering tea parties. She had great talent in music as well as culinary skills.

Mary was very interested in her family, including nieces, nephews and cousins. We have heard so many stories over the years of shopping sprees, dinners, and just encouraging words in their chosen paths in life. Mary had a strong Christian faith and loved the Lord and she taught and showed this faith to her children, for which we are most grateful for. Mary lived a full life , she was loved and she will be missed.

Predeceased by parents, Leonard and Vera Davis; she is survived by daughters Jan Champa and Susan Dorman, and son David Lind.

A private family service will take place in Stonington, Connecticut. Where Mary will be laid to rest with her husband.
