Redmon Funeral Home ~ Funeral Service on behalf of Mrs. Mary Bell Shockey Willey
Mary Bell Shockey Willey
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Mary B. Willey, age 92, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, at her home in Winston-Salem, NC.
Mary was born August 18, 1933, in Ravenswood, WV, to Robert L. Shockey and Virginia L. Crow Shockey. Mary attended Ravenswood High School and upon graduation, met and married the love of her life, James Gordon Willey. The inseparable pair were married for 66 loving years and made their life and careers in Stow, Ohio, working for the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
Upon retirement, they moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. where they would spend the remainder of their lives in an incredibly loving and supportive community of close friends and neighbors. Mary treasured her close-knit extended family, especially after Jim’s passing, and always knew that she could call on them in times of joy or need.
Mary is survived by her nephew, James P. (Tamera) Shockey, of Williamstown, WV, and her niece, Virginia L. (Bradley) Payne, of Watertown, OH, as well as her half-sisters, Connie, Cathy, Pam, and Debbie. Mary was also blessed to have and be survived by many great-nieces and nephews as well as their children.
In retirement, Mary was not only a wonderful wife and homemaker, but also an avid quilter, gardener, hostess, and mom to her faithful feline, Scooter. Some of her best (and longest) days were spent outside tending to her multiple flower gardens and preserving the natural beauty of the home she and Jim so lovingly built together.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert; sister, Ethel; half-siblings, Bill, Leonard, and Janet; nephews, Rob and Lee, as well as her niece, Joyce. She was truly blessed, by the family and people in her life that knew her best, leaving memories and laughter that will be cherished by all.
Funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Mary’s life on Thursday, March 12, 2026, 11 AM, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224, where friends may call from 10 AM, until time of service.
Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Chestnut Hill Memorial Park in Cuyahoga Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name, to Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 East Market Street, P.O. Box 547, Akron, OH 44309.
