HUDSON - Patrick Joseph Dowling, 91, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather passed into the presence of our Lord this last Sunday, September 13th, 2026.

Born in Louisville, Ohio on March 28, 1935. He pursued his Catholic faith at Notre Dame Seminary until his senior year of high school, when he transferred to Central Catholic High School in Canton, Ohio. This is where he met Mary and many high school lifelong friends. From there he attended Kent State University obtaining his Masters degree. He became a French and Latin teacher at Beachwood High School. Then he took a position as the assistant principal at Glen Oaks Private School in Gates Mills Ohio. He took his last educational position at Brecksville High School as Assistant Superintendent. In 1979 California called and he went into the wholesale fence business in Los Angeles CA and worked there for 34 years, retiring at 78 years old. During these years he volunteered and organized many events for The Special Olympics including the 2015 World Wide Olympic events in Los Angeles.

Patrick had a calling to love and cherish relationships with people from all walks of life. He loved life, his Christian faith and being generous came natural to him.

Preceded in death by his cherished wife of sixty-three years, Mary Dowling; son, Kevin Dowling, parents Catherine and William of Louisville and siblings, Thomas, Daniel, Ruth Crowe, and Jerry. He is survived by children, Terry Dowling (Lisa), Sheila Dowling Sydes (Jonathan). Grandchildren, Matthew, Michele, Alisha, Kristen, Breanna, Shannon, Gannon, and Connor. Great-Grandchildren, Aliyah, Alexis, Landon, Emerald, Selah, and Wilder.

We will be celebrating Pat's life with Fr. Colletti at St. Eugene Catholic Church 1821 Munroe Falls Ave, Cuyahoga Falls OH 44221 on September 19, 2026 at 11:30AM. There will be a viewing from 10:30-11:30AM on September 19, 2026 at the church.

We would like to extend an invitation to join us after Mass for a reception at the Kent State University Hotel 215 S. Depeyster St, Kent OH 44240.

Internment will take place at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora CA. To be announced at a later date.
