Paul, loving husband to Peggy L.A. Overmyer, peacefully passed at his home on July 6, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert F. and Evelyn M. (Railsback) Overmyer. In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived and will be missed by his children Dr. Brian (Carole) Overmyer, Eric (Lisa) Overmyer and Catherine (Matthew) Derrick; grandchildren Levi, Evelyn, Zachary and Emma, and his 4 younger siblings James (Elizabeth) Overmyer, Eileen (Edward) Davis, Carol Smith and Barbara Metcalfe.
Paul was a generous and passionate man, a loving husband to his wife Peggy and a loving father to his 3 children, their spouses and 4 grandchildren.
He loved his career (mechanical engineering) and continued to pursue it zealously his whole life taking courses even in his 70's. He loved tennis, fishing, and walking out in nature. He enjoyed many nights boardgaming, playing Rook and watching home movies together with his family. Many nights after work he would enjoy playing basketball or baseball with the boys. He enjoyed vacationing with his family and loved to see the many states and national parks. He loved a great action movie and would laugh easily at comedies. He enjoyed reading historical books and discussing them with his son. He loved photography which he passed on to his daughter and music was imparted to all his children. In his quiet moments he could be found studying the scriptures and never ceased to seek the Almighty.
He loved life and even as he aged was trying new things. He relished Indian food and Thai food for example and loved all things flavorful and spicy.
He and Peggy shared their lives together for over 52 years and were inseparable, even to the end.
Words can't express how he will be missed greatly by his family.
Services and burial with full military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Rittman 44270 on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 12:30 PM. Please meet at the cemetery entrance at 12:15. Immediately following the cemetery services, a celebration to honor his life will be held at Crossroads Community Church, 118 High St. in Wadsworth 44281.
