HUDSON - Peggy (Peg) Sue Mamajek, 83, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born November 2, 1942, in Rocky River, to the late Ollie and Gilbert Burkey. Peg loved to travel; in early adulthood, she worked as a stewardess with United Airlines and was a member of the Clipped Wings alumni organization.
In 1963, Peg married Conrad A. Mamajek, and they made their home in Hudson, where they lived for 50 years. Together, Con and Peg travelled the world, even living for a time in Saudi Arabia. They were active members of the Akron Rubber City Model A Club, and Peg was a long-time member of the choir and handbell choir at the Chapel in Akron.
Peg’s love for Jesus was central to who she was, and she was involved in Community Bible Study and Bible Study Fellowship for many years. In her last months, Peg wanted everyone she met, including all her wonderful caregivers, that heaven was waiting for her because of her faith in Jesus Christ.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Con, and her brother, John Burkey. Peg is survived by her sister, Dara Lynn Petrosky of Rocky River, OH; sons, Kevin (Kelly) Mamajek of Richmond, VA, and Keith (Shannon) Mamajek of Kent, OH, as well as five grandchildren, Paige, Mason, Shelby, Skylar, and Kasey Mamajek. Peg loved all her family deeply, and they were all with her as she went to meet her savior.
Her family and friends will miss her beautiful smile that went all the way to her eyes, and the warmth and laughter she shared.
Pastor Scott Wright will conduct service 11:30 AM, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224. Friends may call from 9 AM, to service time at the funeral home.
Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peg’s memory to the Laurel Lake Foundation Staff Education Program, 200 Laurel Lake Drive, Hudson, OH 44236, to benefit all the caregivers who made her end of life so comforting.
