Obituary of Richard Alan Dowling
CUYAHOGA FALLS - Richard A. Dowling, 71, passed away after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia on January 6, 2016.
Richard was born in Akron, Ohio to Eva Mae and Don P. Dowling Jr. on December 2, 1944. He was a proud veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era from 1964-1968. He retired from Bridgestone/Firestone where he worked as a Tire Mold Designer for 21 years.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, Don P. Dowling, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sally (Sweatt) Dowling of Cuyahoga Falls; mother, Eva Mae Turner of Stow; children, Dawne (Joe) Blackburn of Norton, Matthew Dowling of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, and Paul (Jami) Dowling of Massillon; grandchildren, Jordan, Tyler, and Ethan Blackburn, Alexander and Elizabeth Dowling, and Ellyana and Brynlee Dowling; brothers, David (Brenda) and Jeff, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Heather Knoll, Sprenger Hospice, Phil, Jenny and Amanda.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home, where calling hours will be held Sunday 4 to 7 pm and funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
