Richard Stewart Hertle

STOW - Richard Stewart Hertle, 79, passed away February 15, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in Akron, the son of Ivan and Elizabeth Hertle, he was a resident of Stow since 1984.

He was a 1964 graduate of Buchtel High School and remained an active member of the class reunion committee. He had been employed with Chrysler Motors in the automation department, retiring in 2006.

Richard attended the University of Akron and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He was an active member of Gardeners of Greater Akron and Stow Garden Club. His hobbies included going on cruises, traveling with his wife, making wine, and attending his grandchildren’s many events.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Elizabeth Hertle, and his sister, Gail Hawkins.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peg Hertle; daughter, Christine (Bill) Hartshorne; sons, Scott (Jenn) and Dave (Cris) Hertle; grandchildren, Connor, Daniel, Lauren, Logan, and Nico; sister, Beverly Hertle, and his sister-in-law, Carol (Richard) Gostlin.

There will be a short memorial service held at 1 PM, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, 44224. Friends may call from 11 AM, to service time, at the funeral home.
