Ronald D. Meffley

Ronald Douglas Meffley, 69, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin (formerly of Stow, OH), went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016.

Ron deeply loved, and was loved by, his family. He was an honest and generous husband, father and grandfather. He raised his family to understand and share the hope that he placed in Jesus as his Savior. Ron also ensured that his home was a place where learning, love, and fun were valued. Ron was a member at Christ Community Chapel of Hudson, OH. While he was able to visit 47 states in his lifetime, he especially loved returning to Maryland where he spent his childhood. He also enjoyed coaching and playing softball in his retirement. But most of all, Ron loved being home with his family to cheer on his favorite sports teams - the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians, and Browns.

Ron was born in Lima, Ohio to Dale G. Meffley and Dorothy Meffley Hesse on August 9, 1947. He is a graduate of Ashland University and later received his Masters at Toledo University. He taught chemistry and physics for 35 years, first at Buckeye Central H.S. in New Washington, Ohio and later at Cuyahoga Heights H.S. in Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio. Throughout his career, he coached football, basketball, and girls' softball and volleyball.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Drema Meffley; his son, Ryan (Nikki) Meffley of Homerville, OH; daughter, Heather (David) Miller of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and daughter, Erin (Bryan) McCart of Elburn, IL; grandchildren, Riley Meffley, Owen and Eleanor Miller, and Aidan McCart. Ron also leaves brothers, Bob Meffley (Linda Rittenhouse), Chesapeake City, MD, Roger (Laura) Meffley of La Plata, MD, and Richard Meffley (Shan Shan Tam) of Boston, MA; loving Aunt, Joan (Gordon) Dallas of Ashland, OH; nephews, Gregg (Angie) Meffley, Benjamin Meffley (Valarie Dodge), Jason (Mercedes) Meffley; and niece, Maribeth (Chris) Cavanaugh.

Friends may call at the Redmon Funeral Home, Stow, OH on Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Redmon Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Mansfield officiating.
