Obituary of Thomas J. Hefferon



Thomas Joseph Hefferon born April 21, 1926 in Silver Lake, OH died March 2, 2015.


Tom was the loving husband of the late Helen Smith Hefferon and is survived by her children, Celeste Duer (Rex) Malott, Camille Duer (James) Greenwald, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Duer and Monica Duer (John, deceased) Pennington, grandchildren Max (Susan) Allman, Alexa (Matt) Malott Tonner, Audrey Duer, Trevor (Erin) Duer, Vanessa Duer, Austin Duer, Samantha Greenwald, Jamie Greenwald, great-grandchildren, Krystyna and Caroline Allman. He is also survived by his children Randall, Paul, Marilu, James and Suzanne, and his sister, Geraldine (Hefferon) Dakoski. He was preceded in death by brother Joseph Hefferon. Loving brother, step-father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.


Tom attended Cuyahoga Heights High School and Kent State University. Tom served in the US Navy in WWII in the South Pacific. He had a 41 year career in the Wholesale Drug Business which began at age 13 as a delivery boy in the local pharmacy. He progressed to managing the soda fountain and at age 18 became apprentice pharmacist. He held senior management positions at McKesson Drug Company, served as Vice President of Fort Wayne Drug Company and ended his career as Vice-President, General Manager of Harris Wholesale Company's Ohio Division. Tom will be remembered for his love of the sea, golf, Ohio State Football and a good martini.


Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Rose Hill Burial Park.
