Tyler L Smith

AKRON"Tyler Lee Smith, 49, of Akron passed away on July 26th surrounded by his family and friends at Akron City Hospital after undergoing heart surgery. Tyler was born on June 24th, 1966, to Ronnald Lee Smith and the late Paulla Ann Martin in Findlay, OH. On May 8th, 1999 he married Debra (Sullivan) Smith and she survives.
Also surviving are Tyler's grandmother Rosaline (Maw) Smith, father Ronnald Smith, step-mother Nancy Smith, siblings Cathy (Michael) Rawlinson of New Caney, TX, Sandy (Jeff) Strong of Findlay, OH, Cindy Kroetz of Findlay, OH and his special friend Sunny Whelan.
Tyler spent his career working in the tire and rubber industry for the past 25 years. He was employed as an engineer for Steelastic Co. L.L.C.
His work friends described him as being a favorite of co-workers, customers and vendors. During his career he traveled to many countries such as Germany, South Korea, China, Italy, and Venezuela.
He studied engineering and math at Owens Technical College and took additional courses in engineering and business at Kennedy Western.
Tyler adored his nieces and nephews, Danielle, Jessica, Chelsea (Derek), Michael (Alicia), Kevin, Melanie, Bethany, Emma and Ally. He loved spending time with them and watching their competitions in their various sporting events. He was an extremely proud Uncle. He also loved his two dogs, Jake and Marley. Tyler had a contagious smile and was someone that people were drawn toward. Tyler had many friends who loved him and loved being around him.
Since Tyler was so loved and admired, there will be two services. Visitation will be held at the Redmon Funeral Home in Stow, OH on Saturday, August 8th at 2:00 pm with a memorial service directly following at 3:00 pm. A visitation will also be held at Journey at Christ Church in Findlay, OH on Saturday, August 15th, at 2:00 pm with a memorial service, officiated by Pastor Kelly Sterling, directly following at 3:00pm.
